Red Sox Nation Unite!

Yesterday was a very special day for the boys as they attended their first Red Sox game. Being long time (let's say almost 12 months) fans of the Red Sox, Gabe and Elias were very excited to see the Red Sox play live. They played the Oakland A's at McAfee Collesium during a Sunday afternoon game. The boys were a little nervous cheering against the home team and expected to have some beer thrown on them from other baby A's fans. But alas, Red Sox Nation is everywhere and about 40% of the fans in the stands were cheering for the Sox! The game started with a homer from Big Papi:
We had good seats in left field where we could see all of the action. We also got to be close to BoSox left-fielder Manny Ramirez. True to form, Manny bobbled an easy pop up to left, dropped the ball and turned an easy out into a triple. This of course lead to a run for the A's. But later in the game, Manny drove in two of the Sox's three runs. I guess we really don't pay him to catch. Ah....Manny being Manny. The boys like the action but the heat was a little much for them so we watched a few innings from inside the stadium.

Here's Kathy walking around with Elias. A random Red Sox fan thought he was so cute and that it was so special that it was his first Red Sox game, he had to take E's picture. (If you look in the background, there's even two guys wearing Red Sox jerseys)
Here's Chris and Gabe making the rounds during the game. We may not have lasted the whole game and the Sox did end up losing 6-3, but we had a great time and Red Sox nation grew by two today.

New Pics!

We've been a little lax in our posting lately so for all you baby blog watchers, we have some recent pictures of the boys for you:

Gabe on the left, E on the right practicing our standing with their new table toy.

Enjoying our matching outfits. Do we look like twins or what?

Gabe saying "I'm done with naptime! Now what are we doing?"

Its always good practice to keep your toys and children organized!

When Dad feeds us right before bathtime, we get to try on our Avacado Mohawk!

The March for Babies

This weekend we participated in the March of Dimes March for Babies downtown at the state capital.

Thank you everyone for your generosity! With your donations, we were able to raise $1,100 to support research for premature babies and babies with birth defects. We marched with other twin and triplet moms as part of the El Dorado Hills Mothers of Multiples group that raised $2,340 for the cause.
Gabe and Elias are living proof that modern medicine and research can help premature babies live a happy and healthy life. Without recent developments in medicine, our babies would not be here with us today. So the boys would like to send everyone a bug hug and thank you for your support!!!!

Take Back The Blog

Greetings Blog-Watchers. Elias here! Tonight we have a change of plans -- Rather than the mommy or daddy writing this update, Gabe and I have hijacked the blog and are posting this one on our own. You'd think this would be difficult, but Gabriel and I have worked hard to exhaust the two big people. At this point they would sleep through a hurricane, so as long as we don't cry, we pretty much have the run of the house at night. Every couple of hours we head back to the crib and fuss a bit until they get up and rock us for a while...we like to keep them on their toes!

Okay, Gabriel typing now. Let's get down to business!

E and I wanted to write personally to encourage all of you to support us as we walk in the March of Dimes March for Babies this month. You may think our mom and dad put us up to this, but really it is all our doing. We signed up one night and put it on the calendar. Mom is so addled, she thinks she put it there. (Do we have these two figured out, or what?!?!?) The thing is, we think the March of Dimes is awesome! They support lifesaving research, services, education and advocacy that help babies get a healthy start -- especially premature babies. You may have not realize this, but we were once premature babies ourselves! No really, it's true! Here's some photographic evidence!

See -- we used to be TINY! Thanks to interventions funded by the March of Dimes, we survived being born 2 months early and went from these little guys to this:

We have our walking shoes on!

Big Boys

It is official, we no longer have babies. We now have boys -- practically little men. They are too long to fit into their side-car, or their size 1 diapers and at 14.5 and 15.5 lbs respectively, we are lucky they don't just drive themselves to college each morning. Observe our progress:

Gabe can eat all on his own. :-) There is some clean-up though...

Daddy likes to decorate E with Devil Horns...

They boys are pulling themselves up on things... This photo is a sign that it may be time to lower the crib mattress.

Big boys hanging out in their new shoes! Thanks Ninah!

Mr. Mom

With Kathy off to an all-day job interview, I got to work from home and watch the boys yesterday. I was a bit aprehensive since I haven't watched them myself for that long before. But everything went great - we had so much fun!

We practiced our sitting:

We had a little avacado for breakfast. When Dad feeds the boys, things tend to get a little messy.

We had frequent drinks from our sippy cups to keep everyone happy. My solution to fussy babies: Feed them!

Here's E practicing his tummy time: Gabe was SOOO smiley all day:
All in all, it was a great day at home with the boys.

Great-Grandbaby Tour 2008!

The Great Grandbaby Tour of 2008 swung through Cool, California in February. Kathy's grandparents flew in from Florida (and suffered through something like 9 hours of flight delays!), Kathy's Aunt Diana flew in from Chicago via Florida, and Kathy's Mom flew in from Texas (with a few hours of flight delays too). Apparently the same terrible storm that set off tornadoes in Florida and Alabama was responsible for both sets of delays. But nothing could stop the Great Grandbaby Tour!
Here's Great-Grandpa with Gabe and Great-Grandma with Elias:

Four generations of Hauns, Meltons, and Goddards:

Great Aunt Diana enjoying the boys. They are getting to be quite the handful!

Great-Grandma's sister also lives in the Sacramento area and had a chance to visit and see the boys too:

The whirwind tour then headed out to Denver, Colorado to see the newest (well he was the newest at the time!) great-grandbaby, Luke! Check out Luke's blog here: lukelezama.blogspot.com.
